  • Tomás Guarnizo is a communicator and mediator at heart. His goal is to bridge communication gaps and build robust and trusted partnerships across cultures, sectors, and fields. Tomás began his career in public service by working as a Medical Interpreter and Community Outreach Specialist. Having worked in direct services, non-profits, government, and policy think tanks, Tomás has developed an understanding of system-level thinking and strategic planning.

    Most recently, as a National Urban Fellow at the Georgetown Center for Children and Families, Tomás worked as a Senior Research Fellow focusing on the implementation of birth doulas in Medicaid to improve the maternal health crisis affecting Black and Brown birthing people. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Tomás worked as Health Equity Co-Lead at the CA Testing Taskforce where he led and supported the implementation of equity-focused COVID-19 testing interventions to increase testing access to California’s underserved and underrepresented communities.

    Tomás holds a B.A. in Cognitive Science from Vassar College and an M.A. in Policy Management from Georgetown University. Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Tomás currently resides in Washington D.C.
