Founding Principles

James Alva, the Founder and CEO of Adelante Partners, is a first-generation college graduate with a degree from Stanford University. As a Latino born and raised in Los Angeles, James is passionate about uplifting his community, and that energy to elevate is reflected in our firm's mission and values. !Adelante!

While working in philanthropy for many years, James realized that most nonprofit consulting firms were not led by people of color.

Founded in direct response to a lack of options for nonprofits seeking professional expertise from BIPOC professionals, Adelante Partners is known as one of the only nonprofit consulting firms in the U.S. founded, owned, and staffed by people of color, women and/or those who identify as LGBTQ+. The team of consultants at Adelanate have extensive experience serving the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors.
